Our Vineyard Partners
We feel fortunate to be able to source fruit from top quality vineyards that are dedicated to sound viticultural practices and are located in ideal sites for the production of cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We work closely with Ron and Kevin Johnson at Dion Vineyards and have three back to back vintages from the same rows of old vine Chardonnay from their third generation vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA. In 2013 and 2014 we will be sourcing old vine Pommard from the same vineyard.
Pinot Noir grapes from Stoller Vineyards in the Dundee Hills were used for the 2010 and 2012 Willamette Valley vintages.
Westbrook Vineyards in the Umpqua Valley AVA and Bradley Vineyards in the new Elkton AVA will continue to be sources for Pinot Noir from Douglas County.
Stoller Vineyards
Stoller is the largest site in Oregon’s Dundee Hills AVA. Plantings have been expanded from the initial 20 acres planted in 1998 to approximately 190 acres on elevations ranging from 220 to 640 feet. The surrounding mountain ranges buffer the site and provide a warmer microclimate, which allows for consistent ripening. Soils are predominantly Jory and volcanic in nature. The majority of the site is planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties. Stoller prides itself on combining sustainable farming practices with innovative techniques and scientific research to continue to elevate the quality of the fruit produced. They are LIVE (Low Impact Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe certified.
Dion Vineyards
Dion is a third generation family run vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA initially planted to 5 acres in 1973 and now 60 acres of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. It is situated on a picturesque relatively warm southeast facing slope at the northern end of the Willamette Valley. Careful attention in the vineyard results in consistently excellent fruit quality. Soils are predominantly Laurelwood with elevations ranging from 350 to 550 feet. The site is LIVE (Low Imapct Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe certified.
Bradley Vineyards
Bradley vineyards is a family enterprise planted in 1973 consisting of 25 acres of Pinot Noir Bacco Noir Riesling and Gevurztraminer and 1 mile from Elkton, Oregon in the Elkton AVA. The micro climate of the North Umpqua River valley and age of vines contribute to wonderful fruit and finished wine. The site is LIVE (Low Impact Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe certified.
Westbrook Vineyards
This vineyard was planted in 2000 by Warren and Debbie Deckard and was acquired in 2007 by Dana and Marylee Westbrook who have extensive experience with grape growing in the San Juaquin Valley in California. The vineyard encompasses 14 acres on a south and southeastern facing gentle slope 5 miles west of Southerlin, Oregon on Calapooya Creek, a major tributary of the Umpqua River. The vineyard has thin soils that are alleuvial deposits of siltstone and sandstone plus windblown loess. Vines are cane pruned on an 11 foot by 7 foot spacing and consist of Pinot Noir clones 114 and 777. Southerlin is in the Umpqua Valley AVA. Yields are light at less than two tons per acre with small clusters due to the thin soils. It is irrigated as needed. It complies with LIVE standards but is not yet certified. The fruit is intense and is wonderfully representative of cool climate Pinot Noir.
